


The recent rise in crime in London has happened alongside a decline in both personnel and funding for the London Metropolitan Police. Homicide offences accounted for 145 of these crimes in 2019/20, one of the worst years for homicides in London. Where Delhi stands in terms of thefts can be gauged from the rate of thefts - the number of crimes per 100,000 population - which stood at 1,233.6 in the national capital in 2019 even as the national theft rate during this period was just 50.5.
